A New Year Message
I have decided to forego the usual New Year salutations and offer a set of different ones. They are the ones that I wish for all of us and that we need to adopt as our rules to live by.
So much hate and distrust seems to cast a giant shadow over us. It is building a barrier between family members and friends. But we can turn this around. Please consider the following thoughts and suggestions as a possible solution.
- I Wish For You….. and all of us!
- Forgiveness: The ability to not only forgive others but to accept forgiveness.
- Acceptance: The world contains people of different persuasions, appearances, and beliefs. Accept them. They are human beings just like you and me.
- To be Non – Judgmental: Who are we to judge? We are far from perfect ourselves.
- Inclusion: Be inclusive and included with those you meet and interact with.
- Tolerance: Increase your tolerance to the many variations that life offers.
- Love: Unconditionally. Make peace with your world and those who populate it.
If we all practice these six suggestions, we will go a long way toward achieving those traditional New Year salutations…….
…. A Happy, Healthy & Prosperous Year Ahead.
Conflict Resolved
As in many New Year’s Day homes, Janet and Nigel, a happily married couple, faced the annual conflict of which was more important: the football match on television or the lunch itself. Hoping to keep the peace, Nigel ate lunch with the rest of the family. He even lingered for some pleasant after-lunch chat before retiring to the lounge to turn on the television.
Some minutes later, Janet looked in to see how he was and graciously even bought a cold beer for Nigel. She smiled, kissed him on the cheek and asked what the score was.
Nigel told her it was halftime, and the score was still 0-0. “See?” Janet said happily, “You didn’t miss a thing.”
The Photographer
At the wedding reception, the photographer yelled, ‘Would all the married men, please stand next to the one person who has made your life worth living.’
The bartender was almost crushed to death.

New Opening
A McDonald’s restaurant that only opened five weeks ago has already gone viral on social media because of its unusual location – in rural Quebec, surrounded by farmland.
McDonald’s is one of the world’s most recognizable brands, and one of the ways it built this reputation was by opening restaurants in busy areas that all but guaranteed a certain number of potential customers. However, a newly opened location has been drawing attention for flipping that recipe on its head. The new restaurant located on Avenue Marcel-Villeneuve in Saint-François is surrounded by farmland. It is apparently not even connected to the power grid. Instead, it functions on a generator.
Give Him An Orange
One day in Contract Law class, Professor Jepson asked one of his better students, “Now if you were to give someone an orange, how would you go about it?”
The student replied, “Here’s an orange.”
The professor was livid. “No! No! Think like a lawyer!” The student then recited, “Okay, I’d tell him, ‘I hereby give and convey to you all and singular, my estate and interests, rights, claim, title, calim and advantages of and in, said orange, together with all its rind, juice, pulp, and seeds, and all rights and advantages with full power to bite, cut, freeze and otherwise eat, the same, or give the same away with and without the pulp, juice, rind and seeds, anything herein before or hereinafter or in any deed, or deeds, instruments of whatever nature or kind whatsoever to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding…”
Think About It!
Being rude is easy. It takes no effort and is a sign of weakness and insecurity. Kindness shows great self-discipline and strong self-esteem. Being kind is not always easy when dealing with rude people. Kindness is a sign of a person who has done much personal work and has gained great self-understanding and wisdom. Choose to be kind over being right, and you’ll be right every time because kindness is a sign of STRENGTH.
Looking Heavenward
The temporary Sunday School teacher struggled to open a combination lock on the supply cabinet. She had been told the combination but couldn’t quite remember it. She went to the pastor’s study and asked for help. The pastor came into the room and began to turn the dial. After the first two numbers, he paused and stared blankly. Finally, he looked serenely heavenward, and his lips moved silently. Then he looked back at the lock, quickly turned to the final number, and opened the lock. The teacher was amazed. “I’m in awe at your faith, pastor,” she said. “It’s really nothing,” he answered. “The number is on a piece of tape on the ceiling.”
In A Pet Store
A gentleman walked into a pet shop and asked about buying a goldfish. The salesperson asked if he needed an aquarium. He replied, ‘I don’t care what sign it is.’
Blind Date…
“How was your blind date?” a college student asked her roommate. “Terrible!” the roommate answered. “He showed up in his 1932 Rolls Royce.” “Wow! That’s a very expensive car. What’s so bad about that?” “He was the original owner.”
The Last Word
An optimist stays up to see the New Year in.
A pessimist waits to make sure the old one leaves.
