Confidence — An Inside Job
Often, after meeting a person who has had some degree of success, we will remark, “I wish I had his/her confidence.” The good news is that we can develop that same confidence with a bit of practice and discipline. Here are some elementary steps that will allow us to develop the spirit we saw in someone else:
Practice these simple steps every day for the next 30 days, and you will be amazed at the difference in your confidence level.
Confidence comes from the inside.
Conference: The confusion of one man times the number of people present.
Compromise: Dividing a cake so that everyone believes they got the largest piece.
Tears: The hydraulic force by which masculine willpower is defeated by feminine water power.
Conference Room: A place where everybody talks, nobody listens, and everyone disagrees after the meeting.
Smile: A curve that can set a lot of things straight.
Office: A place to relax after your strenuous home life.
Yawn: The only time that some men get to open their mouths.
Ecstasy: A feeling you have when you feel that you are going to feel a feeling you’ve never felt before.

George was excited about starting his first job as a computer programmer. His father, Colin, was just as excited, although he knew nothing about the technical aspects of computers. As George arrived home from his first Day, Colin, wanting to be supportive. Enthusiastically asked George, “What did you do at work today?” Colin listened attentively, though not understanding a word, as George related his day’s work’s technical ups and downs.
The next day Colin was waiting at the door when George arrived home from work. “So what did you have for lunch today,” he asked.
A woman announces to her friend that she is getting married for the fourth time.
“How wonderful! But I hope you don’t mind me asking what happened to your first husband?”
“He ate poisonous mushrooms and died.” “Oh, how tragic! What about your second husband?” “He ate poisonous mushrooms too and died.” “Oh, how terrible! I’m almost afraid to ask you about your third husband.” “He died of a broken neck.” “A broken neck?”
“Yes, he wouldn’t eat the mushrooms.”
A couple drove several miles down a country road, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument, and neither wanted to concede their position. Finally, as they passed a barnyard of mules and pigs, the wife sarcastically asked, “Relatives of yours?” “Yep,” the husband replied, “In-laws.”
A little girl asked her father, “Daddy? Do all Fairy Tales begin with Once Upon A Time?” He replied, “No, there is a whole series of Fairy Tales that begin with ‘If Elected I promise…’”
It’s not the harvest you gather but the seeds you sow,
