BG’s Positively Speaking

Words That Can Change Your Life
Use these words to create a positive impact in your life.

Dream: Get yourself a dream, then share it. Nothing will happen if you don’t share it. Success requires the help of others. How can they help you if they don’t know what your dreams are?

Possibility: See the possibilities in life. Learn to look at life and see what we ‘can’ do, not what we ‘cannot’ do. Singer Beverly Sills’ friends call her “bubbles” because she always rises to the top, overcoming her challenges and setbacks, and she sees the possibilities.

Prioritize: Put things into the proper perspective. Decide what comes first. Don’t prioritize your schedule; schedule your priorities! To make changes in your life, do the things that will make those changes happen.

Goals: Setting goals is essential. They are your road map, helping you track your progress, correct your course and give you encouragement. Attaining even the smallest goals will increase your self-image and help you move toward the next goal.

Believe:  That you can attain all that you set out to achieve. That you have the abilities needed to reach your goals. Count your strengths and not your shortcomings.

Trust:  That the strength to surmount all challenges will be there when you need it. Trust your instincts, listen to them; if you are doing the right thing, they will guide you.

Blessing: Be a blessing to others. Serving others is the way to success in all your endeavours. It’s the foundation upon which all success is built. You must first give before you can receive.

Principles:  In his book The Power Principle, Blaine Lee says, “The principles you live by create the world you live in.” Accepting this fact, it then follows that, if we change our principles, we will change our world.

In Life……… Choose Positive Words

Billing

A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a party. Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people describing their ailments and asking the doctor for free medical advice. After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, “What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you’re out of the office?”  “I give it to them,” replied the lawyer, “and then I send them a bill.”

The doctor was shocked, but agreed to give it a try. The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills. When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer.

The World We Live In

  • Because of texting, today’s generation has no idea of the horror felt when getting caught in the act of passing a note in class …. and the teacher making you read it out loud.
  • One girl to another, “I’m never going to have kids. I hear they take nine months to download”.
  • In the past, we used to keep a diary and got angry if anybody read it. Now we post on Facebook and get angry if nobody reads it.

Ground Sirloin

It’s a summer holiday weekend, and a man walks into a butcher shop that has a sign in the window saying “Ground Sirloin: $3 a pound.”  The man says, “I’m having a cookout this weekend. I want 5 pounds of your ground sirloin, please.” The butcher shakes his head and says, “Sorry. I’m all out.” The man, disappointed, goes down the street to another butcher shop and asks, “How much is your ground sirloin?” The proprietor replies, “It’s $4.50 a pound.” “FOUR FIFTY!?!” exclaimed the customer. “Just up the street, he sells it for 3 dollars!” The butcher smiles calmly at the gentleman and asks, “Does he have any?” “No. He’s out of it right now.” “Well,” says the butcher. “When I don’t have any, I can sell it for $2.50 a pound!”

Did You Know?

The famous ‘Penny Black’, the world’s first postage stamp, was introduced in England in 1840. The idea of postage stamps was a great success and was taken up worldwide. Yet the ‘Penny Black’ was in use for only one year before it was replaced by the ‘Penny Red’. Why? The postmark used at the time was always black. It was therefore difficult to tell whether a stamp had been franked. This led to people reusing stamps. On a ‘Penny Red’, the black postmark was clearly visible, and therefore it could not be reused.
