BG’s Positively Speaking

The Here and Now

We all know that “Patience is a virtue.”We have been told all our lives that it is, but how many of us are patient? Few of us practice patience. Many people don’t reach their goals because they become impatient; they can’t wait for the goal to be realized. They feel that once the decision to achieve a goal is made, it’s done; they are seeking “Instant Gratification.” Nothing could be further from reality; the decision must be followed by action. There are many steps to successfully realizing our goals and dreams. Each step prepares us to meet the challenges along the path and readies us, both physically and mentally, to achieve the goal or dream.

The decision has been made, and the action has begun. Now is the time to be consistent and persistent, to exercise the patience to keep us moving toward the goal and overcome the obstacles and challenges that will appear. Knowing that the principle of “The greater the challenge, the more valuable the prize” is in play.

During this phase, many will quit, lacking the faith to continue pushing forward and losing sight of the goal. I have failed more than once in my understanding of the principles involved in bringing about a successful ending to my quest, resulting in giving up on my goals.

This is where persistence enters into the picture; it is here that the temptation to quit is the strongest, and the struggle seems to be “just too much. But the goal is almost realized; the end is in sight, just a little more action and persistence.

Be Patient! Focus On The Here and Now. You Are A Winner!

“They’re all named David?” he asked. “What if you want them to come in from playing outside?” “Oh, that’s easy,” she said. “I just call ‘David,’ and they all come running in.”

“And, if you want them to come to the table for dinner?” “I just say, ‘David, come eat your dinner’,” she answered. “But what if you just want ONE of them to do something?” he asked.
